Based on the content of the Financial Times Visual Vocabulary, this project involved designing a handbook for beginners in data visualisation. Initially, we were tasked with creating a publication or installation, but we aimed to combine both elements and produce a product that could function as both.

This sketch represents our final output. When we attempted to stand the book upright and cut a series of semi-circles at the book's spine to represent data, the book itself became an installation, which reminded us of a block of cheese.

*Dataset of all charts

Cheese serves as the main theme throughout the book, as it is known to prompt smiles in photographic scenes. Similarly, we hope that the audience will find satisfaction and smile when they find the appropriate chart for their needs through this book. This is why we named the book "Say Cheese with your Chart".

In this book, we created a corresponding data visualisation example for each chart type. All the data used in the book is derived from a fictitious country we named Cheeseland. The examples range from specific stories about individual residents to general national information. For users, this book is not just a handbook but also a storybook.

I am grateful for this project as it allowed me to gain a deeper understanding of the specific applications of various chart types during the design process. I believe it will make a significant contribution to my future work in data visualisation.
